Feeding and swallowing therapy can help children who have limited variety and textures in mealtimes.
Feeding therapy is conducted by therapists with extra training in helping child learn to eat or eat more efficiently.
Feeing therapy can help those experiencing:

difficulty gaining weight

spitting up or vomiting

cries, arches or is fussy while eating

refuses to eat/drink
-
has trouble coordinating breathing while eating/drinking

difficulty chewing
Causes that can indicate a need for a feeding evaluation or feeding therapy include but are not limited to:

Being premature or having a low birth weight

Reflux or other stomach problems
-
Breathing problems such as asthma

Cleft lip or palate
-
Muscle weakness in the face and neck

Medicines that make her sleepy or not hungry

Autism or sensory issues

Diagnoses like cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, Down’s Syndrome, meningitis
